There’s a couple of communications or documents that we ask our clients to create on their own. This one is called ethical wills. Ethical wills, think about it not as a financial will, but more of as an emotional will. It can be in writing. You can record it orally. It can be video. You can put it on an iPhone, iPhone video. You can just want make sure it can be found. Basically it is … Think about it this way. If you had a couple of days to live and you had your wits about you, what would you want to communicate to your loved ones? This is your shot. Past family history, hopes, dreams, love, just anything you can think of that you would like to communicate to your loved ones.
It’s going to be just a little bit awkward, but think about this way. It’ll be as if when … after you pass away and they get this communication, as if you’re speaking to them from the dead. Now, I’ve always thought that’s what it would be like, and we had one client who passed away. Daughter came in tearing from happiness about the communication that she got from her mother after she passed away. It can be very powerful. So, instead of waiting until a couple of days before you pass away, when you may or may not have the power to do it, the ability, you do it now and updated over time if you want. This is called, again, ethical wills.
